Air connections to Sicily have been steadily improving in recent years, which is certainly linked to the expansion of Catania Fontana Rossa airport and the use of the former military airports of Trapani and Comiso.

Welche Fähre Sie nehmen hängt neben ihrer Urlausregion, (Nordwesten = Palermo, Südosten = Catania) dem Preis und der Abfahrtszeit auch von der Urlaubsdauer ab.

Für weniger als zwei Wochen lohnt sich die Anfahrt im eigenen Auto sicherlich nicht.

Wir als Freiburger  sind leicht im Vorteil, da z.B. Neapel in einer Tagesfahrt zu schaffen ist. Von dort aus sind sie mit TTT Lines schon am nächsten morgen in Catania, die Fahrtzeit beträgt circa 11 Stunden.

Für Reisende aus der Mitte oder dem Norden Deutschlands ist die Anreise nach Genua sicherlich angenehmer, vor allem wenn man ein Ferienhaus in der Region San Vito lo Capo und Scopello bucht. Die Fahrtzeit der Fähre beträgt allerdings 20 Stunden.
Die Autofahrt bis nach Villa San Giovanni ans Ende Italiens ist immer noch recht anstrengend, auch wenn die sich die seit 30 Jahren bestehenden Baustellen langsam auflösen.

Von Freiburg nach Noto sind es circa 1950 Kilometer. Die Überfahrt von Villa San Giovanni nach Messina dauert circa 30 Minuten und kostet fast 80 Euro hin und zurück.

Bus/Taxi and Transfer

Im Allgemeinen ist das Bussystem in Sizilien recht gut ausgebaut, in völligem Gegensatz zum Zugsystem. Taxis gibt es natürlich, sie sind aber im Vergleich zum Bus wirklich teuer.

Der offizielle Preis für ein Taxi vom Flughafen Catania nach Noto beträgt circa 130 Euro.

Die Bustickets bei AST kauft man direkt im Bus, die bei Interbus in einem kleinen Häuschen am Ausgang des Fughafens.(der rechte Ausgang vom Flugzeug kommend)
Ein Ticket nach Noto kostet circa 8 Euro für Erwachsene.
Die Abfahrtzeiten sind nicht perfekt vor allem wenn man spät ankommt.
Der letzte Bus fährt gegen 20.00
Es gibt auch ein Shuttlebus vom Flughafen nach Catania. Alibus, die Fahrtzeit beträgt circa 25 Minuten.
