Located in the countryside, but close to excellent beaches, Casa Falfala is perched on a small plateau in the rolling hills above the beautiful UNESCO world heritage city of Noto. Here you can enjoy a relaxing atmosphere and spectacular panoramic views over the city and sea, along with the citrus, almond, and olive groves that are so typical of this part of Sicily.
The 6×6 metre pool is in use since May 2015 and is directly accessible via the southern terrace from where you’ll have a beautiful view of the sea and surrounding coutryside. Perform your daily yoga with a good view of Noto on the raised platform next to the pool and make the most of the generous space behind the pool (appox. 4.5m x 6m) where you can directly enjoy the sun or hide away under the pergola. Using the outdoor shower (warm and cold) as well as the outdoor kitchen – equipped with a barbecue and sink – you can easily spend the entire day enjoying the fresh sicilian air and end it comfortably sitting under the pergola with a view of the Gulf of Noto and the lighthouse in the Capo Passero.
A dry stone wall separates the pool-area from the house, creating different calm spaces and the pool is cleaned using skin-friendly salt instead of chlorine. The pool is ideal for a refreshing early morning dip or a cooling off in the afternoon with a glass of Prosecco after a lunch of seafood fresh from the market cooked on the barbecue next to it.
The house has three double bedrooms, two of which are self-contained and en-suite.The thirdis a spacious mezzanine above the kitchen, which also hasa bathroom and direct access to the living/dining room; the wholebeing ideal for couples. With Sicily being famous for its excellent fresh ingredients the spacious kitchen is well-equipped with a six-burner gas stove, large refrigerator and dishwasher. The house was built in 2008 using traditional materials, with local stone floors and bathroom tiles throughout and terracotta tiles on the roof keeping the heat out in summer and making it seem much older than it is and part of the landscape.
Due Casa Falfala’s position in the hills, it is somewhat cooler than the city in summer and that, along with an almost constant summer breeze, large fans and high ceilings, always allows for a comfortable temperature in summer. Outside is a secluded seating area/sunbathing area surrounded by a high stone wall.
For winter the rooms are equipped with a large glass fronted log-burner. The bedrooms also have air conditioning (hot/cold).The rooms are all connected by a large south-facing terrace with a covered pergola and amazing views; in addition to which there is also a large east-facing terrace. Therefore one of Casa Falfala’s terraces are the perfect place to prepare yourself for a busy day out with a delicious breakfast, to enjoy good food and the company of friends at lunch or just to read a book, relax or reflect with a glass of Prosecco as the sun goes down.
Noto, with its excellent restaurants and food stalls, is located about seven minutes away with the beautiful sandy beaches of Eloro, Calamosche, Vendicari and Lido di Noto just ten to fifteen minutes further on. The beautiful Duomo Square of Ortygia in Siracusa is forty minutes away with the other Baroque towns of Modica, Ragusa and Scicli about an hour away. Along the vineyards of Etna and the Roman mosaics at Piazza Armerina, which about two hours away, you are ideally placed to make the most of what South East Sicily has to offer whether that be food, wine, culture, or quiet relaxation.
