The other side, the Northwest

Everything we have already written about the south-east of Sicily also applies to the north-west of the island. Within the area of a few kilometres, one can discover sights that are completely unique to this special island. The north west of Sicily offers a slightly different landscape from the provinces of Siracusa and Ragusa; not as gentle and a bit wilder with less agriculture on the coastal areas. It also has fewer sandy beaches. However, despite this one can discover wonderful little bays, impressive rock formations, beautiful natural landscapes and equally resplendent cities and attractions as found on the southeast: Palermo, Castellammare del Golfo, San Vito lo Capo, Erice, Trapani and Marsala,  the Greek temples of Segesta and Selinunte, the Lo Zingaro nature reserve, the salt flats of Mozia and wonderful wine-growing regions.

Your holiday home in the northwest of Sicily.

The province of Trapani, that is the area west of Palermo, has undergone an a positive transformation in recent years and indeed continues to do so. Between Castellammare del Golfo and Scopello, many new, high-quality holiday homes have been built in great locations. Scopello, once a simple estate with Norman roots and a church square, has blossomed into a a lively town with many restaurants and bars.  With its beautiful seafront fortified tower known as a “Tonnara” and it’s close proximity to Lo Zingaro nature reserve with its romantic bays, Scopello has become a wonderful seaside holiday destination. The small harbour town of Castellammare del Golfo, 8 km away, also offers everything you need for a truly relaxing vacation. From our holiday homes in northwest Sicily, you can make countless excursions: to the medieval town of Erice, the provincial capital Trapani, the town of Marsala, famous for its wine and salt pans, or to the Greek temples of Segesta and Selinunte (65 km). All these sights can be reached in less than an hour from your holiday home in the northwest of Sicily. This also applies to the still underestimated capital of Sicily, Palermo, where there are a multitude of sights and experiences to savour.
